Adrift No More!

|
For the past 1 year I had this one idea for a blog post in mind. But my procrastination kept me away from actually writing it for such a long time. Anyways, now I have decided it's time for me to fight procrastination and finally write this.

So, today it has been a little over 9 months since I started my first real job... Boy, time flies and how!!! It only seems like yesterday that I was "unemployed" and enjoying every moment of it! Though there was still this constant nagging at the back of my mind that it had been close to 3 months since my last exam and still had no job in hand.

And then, in the last week of July I finally started working and was more than glad that I did! But, even after 9 months at the job, I still cannot digest that my Student Life is officially over! :-( Ever since I gave my last paper sometime in May, I had been thinking of all the things that I would miss. But my superstition kept me from writing about it on the blog, till the results came out! :P

And then, Procrastination took over and I ended up not writing about it at all. Anyways, there are so many things I miss, I could make a list.
  • Leaving the apartment to go to college and marking our attendance at Durga, before even entering the college.
  • Those minimum 6-7 Cold Coffees a day at Durga, under the pretext of refreshment before attending every lecture!
  • Those debates on whether to attend the lecture , ultimately deciding against it and ending up having just one more coffee to pass time till the next lecture.
  • All of us heading straight to our friend's place, totally forgetting about the lecture and spending hours there playing Cards.
  • All those aimless hours spent at Zest drinking Lemon/Peach Iced Tea discussing the most useless topics in the world and feeling as if we were discussing important issues.
  • Those late night dinners at Hot Sip or Pallavi under the excuse that we needed a nice break before we stay up to study.
  • Staying up with the aim of studying and ending up playing computer games.
  • Those late night messages/phone calls to friends asking about Assignments to be turned in the next day.
  • The daily 4:00 AM breakfast at Sweekar.
  • Coming home at 6:00/7:00 AM after breakfast and finally going to sleep! :-)
  • Waking up again at 01:00 PM in the morning (yes, morning for me! :P) to another totally idle day with only one question in mind, "where should I go for lunch?"
Now even after I have started working, the days have a routine. But the routine now is so completely different than what I had back then. Now the day goes something like this.
  • Wake up
  • Make breakfast
  • Eat, get ready, leave for work
  • Spend 10 hours at work (with a couple of breaks in between of course! :-))
  • Come back from work, have dinner, go off to sleep.
  • Again wake up the next morning for an exact replica of the previous day.
Anyways, I still wouldn't complain. Because, now at least I don't have that constant irritating voice in my head that kept asking "What next???" Now that irritating voice seems to be asking, "When next?" :-)

Nostalgia

|
Until about a fortnight ago, everybody was ranting about the new Mile Sur Mera Tumhara on Facebook. So I decided to check it out. After watching the new video, I also watched the original one on YouTube and thus started my walk down the memory lane.

Here are some of the videos that made me nostalgic :-)

Jungle Book

Everytime I see this video, I am reminded of those times when I used to watch this with my elder sister. We both absolutely loved this show. I am also reminded of me being called Mowgli by my cousins, all thanks to my haircut at the time. :-)

Ek Anek

Now that I watch this video, I understand the meaning behind the lyrics of the song. Though, I also remember loving it everytime I watched it back then, when I had absolutely no idea what it meant. At that time, it was just an animated video with a cute song and cute graphics! :-)

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara

Another such video, whose meaning was totally lost on me at the time. I loved it, nonetheless. One thing I remember loving about this song was listening to the same line in different languages.

Anyways this list could go on for a while so I am gonna cut it into pieces. These are all for now. I almost had goose-bumps while watching these videos after such a long time.
